[Project Description]
A story about the intangible culture of the region was told in a projection mapping project set in the former feudal lord's residence in Obi, a castle town with a long history in Kyushu and an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
[Customer issues/requests]
In a castle town with many tangible cultural properties, the next challenge was to pass on intangible culture to the next generation and people outside the area.So the theme was born: "Let's make the local intangible culture known to a wide range of people by creating a space that everyone can be interested in, in conjunction with an event that has a high drawing power."
[Solution]
By expressing the intangible culture of the region like a "historical picture scroll" using the video technique of projection mapping, I think it has created an opportunity to attract the interest of a wide range of people, regardless of age, gender, or whether they are from Japan or overseas. Another advantage of video expression is that it has been able to create a highly artistic space without damaging the building, which is a cultural asset, and I think this has hinted at future possibilities.
