overview

This is a renovation project for the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Natural Science, which we undertook at the request of the Japan Foundation for Science and Technology Communications.
Approximately 40 years after its opening in 1981, the second floor's "Beech Forest Environment and Organisms" and "Experience the Power of Wind," and the third floor's "Mysterious Moving Room," have been renovated and renamed "Symphony of Forest" and "Scale Adventure," respectively.
In order to realize the image of displays basic plan presented by the client, we proceeded with the consideration and production of the video space, content, video system, and graphics.

Issues/requests

In considering this, we will base our decision on the [Basic displays Plan].
① It must be related to the overall purpose of displays in the corner.
② The content must reflect social trends.
③ It is a method that anyone can experience intuitively.
The key was achieving the three points mentioned above.

In "Symphony of the Forest," the goal was to express the "biodiversity" nurtured by the beech forest and the "sense of presence of the forest" that evokes the feeling of nature, by projecting "the four seasons and creatures of the beech forest" onto screens positioned to blend in with the existing sculpted beech forest.
For "Scale Adventure," the requirement was for an "attraction-type content" that would allow visitors to adventure from the micro to the macro, through seamlessly connected video and a non-contact sensor-based experience.

solution

In order to realize the above issues, the staff worked together to carry out "video projection simulation", "sensor detection simulation", and "structural verification of projector installation", and while holding content meetings with curators, graphic design in anticipation of operating conditions. promoted.
