overview

Atsuta Shrine is the shrine that enshrines the Kusanagi no Tsurugi sword, one of the three sacred treasures, and since ancient times, offerings of swords have been made there continuously throughout the ages.
Kusanagi Hall, a treasure trove of swords, is a sword-only displays hall unique to Atsuta Shrine, housing around 450 swords, including those designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, and swords that have been offered to the gods with prayer since ancient times. In addition to the swords, you can also view paintings and historical documents related to swords, and there is an experience corner where you can feel the weight of two large swords, the Shumei Sueno Aoe (Taro Tachi) and Chiyozuru Kuniyasu (Jiro Tachi), made to their actual length and weight.

Our company was in charge of the graphics for the museum, explanations for the sword displays, and video production.

The video has as its theme "Kusanagi Sword - The Myth of Its Transmission," which is also the origin of the name Kusanagi-kan. The video presents the myth of the birth of the Kusanagi Sword and the origin of its enshrinement at Atsuta Shrine in a graceful picture scroll style.
The background music was also carefully considered, beginning with the melody of traditional Japanese gagaku instruments and adding the sound of an orchestra to convey the magnificent moment of the birth of the shrine.
The commentary monitors for the sword displays follow the theory behind sword displays appreciation, but by using larger characters and more furigana, they make the text easier to read for a wider range of ages.
