overview

The event aims to provide elementary school students with an opportunity to communicate with science museum curators and feel closer to science while spending their time in after-school care on weekdays.
We held a science experiment workshop using balloons via online broadcasting between Tama Rokuto Science Museum, which we have been managing as a designated administrator since 2013, and an after-school children's club in Kodaira, Tokyo. Experiments such as "dropping," "floating," "stretching and returning," and "shaking" were conducted in the form of a quiz, and the content was designed to deepen understanding of the wonders of balloons while having fun.

Issues/requests

In recent years, due to the increase in the number of dual-income households and the decrease in the amount of time parents and children can spend together, an increasing number of children are not having the opportunity to go to experience facilities with their parents in tow. Our company, Kodaira City, and Asuha share our desire to not leave such children behind, and to implement initiatives that will stimulate their intellectual curiosity by encountering surprises and discoveries while living in their daily living environment. This led to the implementation of this workshop.

Customer's voice

Not only did the participating children feel excited and thrilled through the experience, but the after-school staff involved in the preparations for the event also got to experience the children's smiling faces.
Collaborative events with Tama Rokuto Science Museum, which is familiar to children, are also meaningful in terms of revitalizing the local area, and we would like to create a system that will allow this to continue.
