overview

Set in Azabudai Hills, which has a "Modern Urban Village" concept based on the two pillars of Green & Wellness, Mori Building and Keio University have joined forces to create a preventive medicine center that will be a hub for innovation and aim to realize next-generation preventive medicine. The center has expanded and relocated from the university hospital in Shinanomachi to two floors on the 5th and 6th floors of Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower. The 5th floor will offer a personalized check-up where patients can order a test menu according to their wishes, and the 6th floor will offer a newly opened membership-based medical service called "Preventive Medicine Membership." AND was responsible for concept design of the common areas on the 5th and 6th floors, excluding the examination rooms.

Issues/requests

The preventive medical center, which will be established as a core facility for the Wellness collaboration, was required to be unique in its scale and expected customer base.
As a place that embodies Keio University's mission of ``realizing a prosperous and long-lived society in which all people can live healthy and vibrant lives,'' it is a place with a special and high-quality feel that is close to each individual, and where academic results can be achieved. In order to become a base of genuine innovation that can be implemented in society and present the future of preventive medicine, we needed to create a new type of preventive medical facility that has never existed before.

solution

We thought that the best place to provide cutting-edge preventive medical care would be a universal space that utilizes the natural power of materials. Since ancient times, natural materials have been known to create comfort and give people a sense of relaxation and peace of mind, but in modern times, it has become difficult to use them as interiors materials, especially in medical facilities, due to concerns about hygiene, flammability, durability, and cost. However, the way this facility is designed means that visitors are not patients but examinees, and the space is intended to create a space where doctors and examinees can build an equal relationship and leave with a sense of security, and where examinees can relax and naturally communicate. Therefore, we went back to basics and reexamined natural materials such as natural stone, solid wood, and washi paper, aiming to create a universal, high-quality space like an urban resort, even though it is a building in the city center.

Customer's voice

It has been very well received by our patients, who say, ``It doesn't feel like a hospital or clinic, so it's nice.''
