overview

This is a renovation project for the GORA KADAN FUJI GOLF golf course, located adjacent to the GORA KADAN FUJI hotel, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2025 and is located on the majestic, undulating land at the foot of Mount Fuji.
Our company was responsible interiors and FFE concept design of the common areas of the approximately 2,600m2, two-story clubhouse, including the entrance, lobby, lounge, restaurant/bar, suites, shops, lockers/bathrooms, as well as the interiors detailed working drawings for the entire building, basic and working drawings for facilities, supervision, and interiors and FFE construction.
With an eye to creating a sense of quality that is in line with the Gora Kadan brand of luxury hotels, we have created a modern and elegant clubhouse space using brick, wood, and marble as the main themes.

Issues/requests

GORA KADAN FUJI GOLF was required to renovate the existing dilapidated building into a form befitting the modern era, while making the most of its special environment with a direct view of the World Heritage Site, Mt. Fuji. Furthermore, the golf club, which had previously been a sports-focused facility, needed to be redefined as a place to stay and refresh the body and mind, and expanded into a comprehensive resort experience in conjunction with the hotel. Meeting various requirements, such as a spatial configuration that makes the most of the views of Mt. Fuji, clarity of flow, improved comfort, and concept design that incorporates the natural beauty of the four seasons, was an important challenge.

solution

The existing building's framework was carefully reorganized and rebuilt into a new clubhouse, balancing a sense of stateliness with a local flavor through a material plan based on wood, stone, and brick. A symmetrical structure that echoes Mount Fuji and the Japanese concept of "ma" (space between spaces) were incorporated to create a tranquil, deep space where light and scenery reach the interior in multiple layers. The first floor has been redesigned and the flow of traffic around the lockers and starting lobby optimized to enhance comfort, while the second floor features a lobby, restaurant, lounge, and suites that make the most of the views. The club has been renovated into an unprecedented wellness resort-style golf club, enhancing the stay experience while harmonizing with nature, including a wood-burning fireplace and facility planning.
