NOMURA Co., Ltd. is at the concept development stage of the first membership workspace "EXPRESS WORK-Lounge" and "EXPRESS WORK-Office" opened by Central Japan Railway Company (hereafter, JR Tokai) in December 2021. Since then, I have been in charge of space concept design, construction, and related project management. "EXPRESS WORK-Lounge" is a worker-, community-, and environment-friendly social space that uses upcycled* upcycled* aluminum from Tokaido Shinkansen Series 700 trains (hereafter referred to as recycled aluminum) and thinned Fuji cypress wood for the interiors. Good space.
 

We believe that there will be an increasing demand in the future to respond to the need to decentralize offices and to create an environment where Shinkansen passengers can work seamlessly before and after boarding. We believe that this initiative will support diverse work styles and lead to the dissemination of local resources and regional revitalization.
 

 

Efforts in the aluminum upcycling project for the700 Series Shinkansen
 

NOMURA, Ltd., which promotes social good activities, supports the global environmental conservation and regional revitalization efforts of JR Tokai. We are involved in design cooperation and construction.
 

In August 2020, recycled aluminum was used for the pillars and ceiling of Tokyo Gift Palette, a specialty store at the Yaesu North Exit of Tokyo Station, and decorations inspired by cherry blossom petals and noren curtains suitable for a terminal station were added (commercial This is the first time it has been used to decorate a space since the start of Shinkansen operation in 1964, and won the Good concept design Award in 2021). In April 2021, in collaboration with JR Tokai Shoji Co., Ltd., recycled aluminum was used for some fixtures, including the checkout counter, at the new store concept "Activist Workshop" of "The Body Shop". . (This is the first company other than the JR Tokai Group to provide recycled aluminum as building materials for store interiors.)
