[Project Overview]
Toward completion in the spring of 2019, a project is underway for the Fukuoka Airport domestic passenger terminal commercial facility "greenblue".
As the entire airport is being redeveloped under the park concept, we are in charge of environmental planning for the commercial zone. The whole is like an integrated park, and we aim to be a place where not only tourists but also people in the city can gather.
This time, I was in charge of the design and construction of the food hall The Foodtimes, which will be the centerpiece of the early opening.

[Issue/Theme]
■ concept design concept: "Captain's Base" "A private base for the captain who flies around the world." With this concept in mind, we took inspiration from maintenance yards and airplanes, and developed it into concept design of each zone and detail. By giving it a story-like quality, we deepened the appeal of the space.
■The best trip starts with the best beginning. "The more enjoyable the waiting time, the better the trip." Based on this idea, we have created seating spaces with different personalities for each zone and sprinkled playful concept design so that guests can spend their waiting time in a way that suits their individual goals.

[Solution]
The northern zone, closest to the boarding gate, features a high counter where customers can casually grab a drink and then board the plane. In the southern zone, airplane parts are on displays, creating a museum-like space. The plan is to allow visitors to spend time touching airplane equipment that they normally don't get to see. The central hall seats are fitted with original lighting inspired by the truss structure of a maintenance yard. The random movement creates a fun, lively atmosphere. The space at the back is designed to resemble a captain's study. Notes about becoming a pilot are written on a blackboard on the ceiling.
