Sports Authority Toyokawa Store, the first store with a new concept, aims to be more than just a sporting goods store, it is a space where anyone can stop by and become a place to be.
Rather than intentionally creating a store that resembles a sports store, we value an atmosphere that is open to everyone and gives a sense of familiarity, peace, and relaxation, and we have created concept design that uses the "engawa" as a symbol motif to create both the inside and outside of the store. We provide a space where a wide range of customers, from families to seniors, can enjoy shopping and communication while relaxing.

Issues/requests

Nearly 30 years have passed since Sports Authority opened a store in Japan, and changes were needed in the structure and concept design of the sales floor.
In addition, because many stores are located in shopping malls, the customer base changes depending on weekdays, holidays, and time of day.In addition, with the increase in demand for light sports due to health consciousness, stores that can attract a larger number of customers. There was a request to do so.
At the same time, we were also examining logistics and reforming sales floor management, and there was also a need for a store design that could accommodate new business formats.

solution

We saw the store's location in a shopping mall as a strength, and instead of trying to make it more of a sporting goods store, we aimed to create a place that is open to everyone and emphasizes communication.
By installing symbolic benches on the facade with a veranda motif, we open it up as a public space for resting and socializing, giving the impression that it is a place where anyone can easily stop by.

Additionally, we have set up verandas throughout the spacious store, which can be used as bases for resting, communicating, and displaying items.
concept design taste emphasizes ease of entry and comfort, and we try to express our uniqueness not found in other sports stores, such as by incorporating signs that take advantage of the characteristics of each region.
By carefully examining the backyard and flow lines, and reducing the height of fixtures and adjusting the amount of display, we have transformed the store into a store that staff can keep an eye on and customers can easily move around.
