Southgate Hotel Okinawa

This project involves renovating a hotel that opened in 1995 on the upper floors of the Tomarin passenger terminal building in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, and rebranding it as a separate hotel.

The existing building had a grand and unique atmosphere, with glass arched ceilings and walls and floors covered in boldly patterned stone. In this project, instead of completely demolishing the existing hotel's interior and rebuilding it from scratch, the goal was to maximize the appeal of the existing space by applying minimal design changes.
By minimizing the extent of demolition and adding elements such as an open kitchen, bar counter, ceiling fans, rugs, furniture, and art based on the "ship" theme of the space, we breathed new life into the existing hotel and created an attractive space.
