overview

This is a renewal project for the Ricoh Environmental Business Development Center, which celebrated its 10th anniversary since its opening in 2016.
In addition to designing, planning, and constructing the exhibits for the overall renewal of the guided tour, our company developed a new key concept, "Gotemba Hibikikan no Mori," and created a symbolic logo expressing this concept, as well as a signage plan, an operational plan using tablets, and digital content.
As a co-creation hub that supports visitors in promoting environmental management and accelerating GX (Global Energy Exploration), it has evolved into a "practical hub" where solutions to environmental challenges are designed and verified together with visitors. Through problem analysis using digital content and experiential programs, it is a facility that supports visitors in enhancing their environmental management and creating new businesses.

Issues/requests

Having had visitors since the facility opened and strengthening relationships with them, the next challenge was how to leverage these relationships for future business development.
The following points were raised as the main proposed solutions:
① To understand in advance the visitor's specific challenges and concerns, as well as their expectations for visiting Ricoh and our center.
② Content displays, tour designs, and appeals that lead to problem-solving, tailored to the attributes and expectations of visitors.
③ Utilizing the closing session as an opportunity to re-examine the specific challenges faced by visitors.

Based on the above issues and proposed solutions, we received the following two requests regarding the desired state of the website after the renewal.
① By restarting the entire tour, our efforts toward realizing a decarbonized and circular economy will be communicated accurately and effectively to stakeholders both inside and outside the company.
② To implement mechanisms and systems that enable one-on-one marketing with visitors, allowing for a deeper understanding of their challenges and concerns, and the ability to propose solutions.

solution

We developed a tablet system for operating guided tours that allows visitors to not only view materials during the tour but also take notes and photographs. Based on this recorded information, an application is automatically generated that creates a tour report after the tour is completed.
Aiming to create an interactive tour experience, we are producing immersive theater-style videos that convey Ricoh's commitment to environmental management, as well as digital content using touch-panel displays that allow visitors to explore solutions to their challenges and concerns.
The materials used in the construction include exterior covers and printed circuit boards from Ricoh printers, as well as reclaimed scaffolding materials from construction sites, contributing to sustainable practices.
