[Project Summary]
A renovation project for the JAL lounge at New Chitose Airport's domestic terminal.
Based on the concept of "a Japanese atmosphere," we incorporated the "texture of Japanese materials" and "colors of materials that evoke the corporate color red," and concept design the Sakura Lounge and Diamond Premier Lounge, the highest-class lounge for domestic flights, as open, high-quality, and sophisticated spaces.
The seating layout has been carefully designed to be functional and offer a wide variety of seating options to suit a variety of situations.
[Customer Issues]
A major challenge was how to concretely express the JAL brand keyword "sophistication" and how to differentiate it from the JAL International Lounge at Haneda (NOMURA AND concept design).
Additionally, consideration was being given to how to express the individuality of each airport as it is rolled out to each major airport (approximately five airports) in the future. In terms of functionality, issues included securing a set number of seats calculated from the total square metres and expanding baggage storage facilities.
【solution】
In terms of differentiation, the international routes were based on plain wood, but for the domestic routes, the corporate color "red" was expressed through a variety of materials to create a differentiated concept design focuses on the brand.
To express sophistication, we used sharp textures such as glass and metal, and incorporated cutting-edge art to create a space with a high level of sensitivity.
The need to expand storage functions was addressed by designing custom furniture that would provide sufficient storage space.
