overview

This is a project for the all-day dining restaurant "MONDO Sagami Ohno" which will open on the 7th floor of Odakyu Hotel Century Sagami Ohno.
The restaurant, with a spacious space of over 666 square meters, is equipped with a gigantic wood-fired oven, which is the symbol of the restaurant MONDO. Based on the theme of "from the mountain to the table," the restaurant uses wood-fired cooking to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients, providing simple and innovative flavors. Guests can casually enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, including a lunch buffet featuring carefully made handmade bread, and steaks baked in a wood-fired oven. The restaurant also houses BAR ROJY, where you can casually enjoy authentic cocktails and rare old whiskey, and Kogasaka Bake Sagami Ohno, where you can purchase freshly baked bread and baked goods, offering a free, warm and unique restaurant experience to the people of the city.

Issues/requests

This project is one of the value-up projects for the 7th to 10th floors of the Odakyu Line's Sagami-Ono Station Square produced by Keep Will Dining. The existing tenant in this area had been in operation for over three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The client requested that we make good use of the existing facilities and create a neighborhood restaurant that would have the feel of having been in the location for a long time.
However, this section is located further back from the hotel reception, so the interior of the restaurant is completely invisible from the common areas, and the façade is also located in an area with low visibility, meaning that customers have to walk through a long corridor before finally reaching the seating area, which is an irregular layout. We needed to find a way to expose the restaurant's face and ensure a flow of traffic that would draw customers in, as well as find a way to make the restaurant coexist with the adjacent hotel lobby.

solution

By removing the partition wall that separated the hotel lobby from the restaurant, we were able to eliminate the long corridor that had been an issue and expand the lobby space. By installing the new hotel reception counter and the restaurant cafe counter there with a common concept design, you can see both the hotel and restaurant faces.
The interior of the restaurant is centered around a wood-fired oven and features a bar lounge, dining room, semi-private rooms, and private rooms that can accommodate large groups, with a variety of seating configurations to suit a wide range of customers and purposes, and is set up to accommodate both lunch buffets and dinners. interiors reuses the existing finishes and designs, combining them with materials such as antique mirrors, plastering, and black ironwork, and sprinkling soft indirect lighting and designer lighting in various places to create a comfortable space that makes you feel as if it has been here for a long time.
