overview

This project involved the relocation and reconstruction of a museum that had opened in 1948 within Matsumoto Castle Park, due to its aging condition. Our company was responsible for everything from formulating the basic concept for displays space to design, layout, construction.
The first floor is an open space accessible to citizens and tourists, and the museum was constructed as a way to actively engage with urban development in Matsumoto City.

Issues/requests

- To create displays space that offers something new each time you visit, encouraging visitors to return again and again.
- To create a symbolic object through citizen participation that represents the museum's commitment to working together with its citizens.
- Create an interactive displays in the open space on the first floor, designed for preschool children and older, allowing them to easily experience the museum.

We have received the above requests.

solution

The exhibition space is divided into a permanent displays section that fully conveys the appeal of displays through meticulously crafted displays, and a recurring displays section that prioritizes ease of changing exhibits, resulting in an displays space that is both visually engaging and flexible.
- A community workshop was held using "temari," one of Matsumoto's traditional crafts, as the theme. Participants created works based on the "temari" motif together with the community, and the finished products were displays as art objects in the atrium of the building.
We have created numerous pieces of content that allow people to become familiar with Matsumoto's nature, history, and culture through play.

Customer's voice

In order to realize our request, we received a proposal based on our extensive experience that takes advantage of our city's unique characteristics.
In addition, through community-based activities such as holding citizen workshops and actively utilizing local businesses, we have increased the interest and interest of citizens in the new museum and strengthened the ties between the museum and citizens. .
