Maruhan Sendai Kudatake Store Rest Room "REVERSE AREA"

The "REVERSE AREA" inside the Maruhan Sendai Kuratake store, which recently opened in Sendai City, is a new kind of rest space where you can feel relaxed, in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the pachinko hall.
To evoke the combination of the hall's energy and a relaxing atmosphere, we focused on the flow of sauna, cold bath, and outdoor air bathing, and incorporated healing and relaxing content into the room.
To maximize the healing power of water, we've incorporated a device that projects ripples onto the space by gently shaking a water basin, refreshing forest-scented aromatherapy, original healing sounds, and selected reclining chairs and bowl-type chairs to create a space where you can immerse yourself in relaxation with all your senses.
Our company is responsible for planning and basic concept development, design, layout, building execution, environmental features, and signage and graphic concept design.

When we were thinking about how to create an attractive "place" for our Sendai Kudatake store, we came up with the idea of a rest area that had never been seen before. Even when we conduct surveys of customers who visit our stores, the requests for an improved rest area always rank highly.
One of the values we offer is "peace of mind," but the rest areas themselves have become homogenized, and we were faced with the dilemma that we might not be able to provide the essential "peace of mind."
Furthermore, when we look at society, we see that many people are stressed and seek "peace" in their leisure time, and by putting together the pieces that show there is a need from both fans and society, we thought that an unprecedented rest area would lead to the creation of new value.

By transforming a rest area that previously only contained manga and massage chairs, primarily used by existing customers, into a place where customers can enjoy Maruhan's unique relaxation services, we were able to increase customer satisfaction and create an incentive for non-customers to visit and stay at our stores.
To prevent the unique lighting effects of a pachinko parlor from entering the room, we concept design partition walls that resemble water bubbles. This creates a playful effect where outside light is blocked, yet the interior can be glimpsed through the bubbles.
In achieving this, given the limited construction period, we collaborated with a partner company specializing in digital fabrication, enabling rapid realization from sketches and drawings.
