[Project Overview]
Lumine Co., Ltd.'s first overseas store, "LUMINE SINGAPORE".
A concept store that targets curious working women and showcases [TOKYO STYLE, CULTURE, DESIGN] from Lumine's unique perspective.
The minimalist space, constructed from solid materials, creates a gallery-like atmosphere that highlights each and every featured product item.
In addition, the store will feature "Lumine Cafe," Lumine's first café concept, offering photogenic menu items that are mindful of beauty and health, along with a space that exudes femininity and sophistication.
[Customer's Challenges]
Lumine's independently curated apparel shop and cafe operation. As this is Lumine's first attempt at all of these ventures, our biggest challenge from the start was to support the creation of the store from scratch.
The uniquely shaped 285-tsubo (approximately 940 square meters) plot houses over 20 fashion brands, a cafe area, and a sub-lease area.
The project required a zoning and traffic flow plan that would highlight the appeal of various merchandise items, a spatial concept design that expressed the individuality and harmony of the new Lumine brand, and a unique, edgy space themed around "TOKYO" that was unlike anything else in Singapore. On the implementation side, challenges arose in overseas construction, such as negotiations and coordination between Lumine and the local building owner, tight schedule adjustments due to repeated delays in decision approvals, and factory production and checks in other countries for production orders.
[Solution]
By utilizing irregularly shaped sections and gradually introducing variations in each area, we created a space that feels expansive and dynamic.
Furthermore, by incorporating wooden eaves along the boundary of each section, a sense of unity was created for the store, which is packed with various elements (merchandising), emphasizing the launch of the new Lumine brand.
Prioritizing texture and authenticity, the materials used primarily consisted of mortar, wood, and terrazzo, creating a minimalist yet edgy space. During the project's development, collaboration with an external VMD (Visual Merchandising) designer added artistic elements, expressing a sense of style and trendiness that embodies the essence of Tokyo.
In terms of implementation, thanks to close cooperation with the Japanese team and the swift response of Nomura Singapore, we were able to successfully open the facility despite the tight schedule.
