[Project description]
The city's central library on the first floor of the Kikuchi City Lifelong Learning Center KiCROSS.
We concept design a diverse space that creates a variety of experiences with large curving, undulating bookshelves that are inspired by the flow of the river in Kikuchi Valley, the pride of Kikuchi City. Bookshelves gently separate the space and invite people in, giving the space character from a bustling place near the entrance to a quiet place to indulge in reading. Various places are created by changing the shape of the bookshelf, such as opening a hole, forming a staircase, creating an enclosed space, and so on.
Applications such as displays corners, facility VI concept design, library signs, pamphlets, etc. are also ordered and concept design by NOMURA.
A maximum of 85,000 books can be stored on open shelves.
