Kikuchi City Central Library
overview
[Project Description]
The municipal central library is located on the first floor of the Kikuchi City Lifelong Learning Center KiCROSS.
We concept design a diverse space that creates various experiences using large, curved, undulating bookshelves inspired by the flow of the river in the Kikuchi Valley, a source of pride for Kikuchi City. The bookshelves gently divide the space, inviting people in and defining the character of the space from a lively area near the entrance to a quiet place to immerse oneself in reading. The bookshelves create various spaces by changing their shape, such as by having holes, forming staircases, and creating enclosed areas.
NOMURA Co.,Ltd. also accepts concept design for applications such as displays corners, facility VI concept design, library signage, and brochures.
The open-shelf storage capacity is a maximum of 85,000 books.
