overview
Hiroshima Motomachi Aquarium, which opened in Hiroshima Prefecture, has an displays concept of "A Museum of Water and Life," and conveys a different message in each of its eight stages (scenes). By displays the underwater world and the activities of living creatures, the aquarium expresses the strength and fragility of life.
Each stage is connected to the others, reflecting the charm of the creatures living in diverse environments and illustrating the theme of the facility, "The Stage of Life."
"Welcome" fantastically depicts the beginning of life, while the following "Forest" conveys the changing seasons and the vitality of the forest. "White" shows a colorless world and the brilliance of life, while "Marine note" and "Coral" introduce the diverse ecosystems of the ocean and the colors of coral reefs. "Flowers, Birds, Wind, and Moon of the Sea" expresses the mystery and beauty of the underwater world, while "Zipangu" depicts traditional Japanese beauty and the elegance of goldfish. The final piece, "Message," uses a clock that tells the time of extinction and evolution to call attention to the transience of life and our responsibility to the future, evoking emotion and resonance.
To convey a deeper understanding of the concept and to convey emotion, we have incorporated immersive experiences and interactive displays that stimulate the five senses.
