Gontran Cherrier currently operates around 60 stores across France, Asia, North America, the Middle East and other regions. It also opened stores in Japan from 2012 to 2017, making this its return.
For this new store, in keeping with Gontran Cherrier's strong feelings for Japan, the recipe for the classic croissant has been revamped and a wide range of menu items have been created using uniquely Japanese ingredients and Gontran recipes, breathing a new wind of bakery life into Tokyo's Aoyama district.
Part of the kitchen on the first floor can be seen from both outside and inside the store, creating a lively atmosphere of freshly baked bread together with the shop.
Additionally, the eat-in corner on the second floor is in a great location with a panoramic view of Aoyama-dori, providing a spacious and relaxing space.
The spatial concept design concept of the Aoyama store is "Japanese style, supreme hospitality at the Gontran House in Aoyama, Tokyo," and the maisonette space with stairs connecting the first and second floors and the outdoor terrace seating are likened to a "mansion." The traditional Japanese color of Omeshichairo (brown) surfaces and furniture, as well as original furoshiki (wrapping cloth) used for the displays, create a Japanese feel.
