Fukui City Tourism Exchange Center Rooftop Plaza Dinosaur Monument

In conjunction with the opening of Fukui Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, a dinosaur monument was installed on the rooftop plaza of the new tourist exchange center that will be built at the east exit of Fukui Station. The purpose is to give a strong impression of the ``Dinosaur Kingdom Fukui'', increase awareness of Fukui, and encourage visitors to the city. The dinosaur monument is located in a position that can be seen from the Shinkansen platform and train windows. The "Fukuititan" discovered by the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum expresses Fukui's good child-rearing environment and family love, and the sight of two animals huddled together looks like a heart. In addition, we placed dinosaurs whose fossils were found in Fukui and monuments of popular dinosaurs, and took pictures with them.We also used a device that made it look like dinosaurs would pop out in augmented reality (AR) when you held your smartphone up to them. We have developed it as a fun new attraction that will make you feel as if you have entered a world where there are people.

Fukui City's challenge was to raise awareness of the "Dinosaur Kingdom Fukui" and to attract more visitors to the city. In conjunction with the opening of Fukui Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, two large dinosaur monuments and several small dinosaur monuments were created and installed on the roof of the Tourist Exchange Center to give a strong impression of "Dinosaur Kingdom Fukui", and the only large dinosaur monument is on the roof of the Tourist Exchange Center. Instead, policy issues such as creating a shape that can be recognized from the Shinkansen train window were presented.

We thought that turning the rooftop plaza itself into a facility to attract tourists would lead to a solution for the purpose of increasing awareness of "Dinosaur Kingdom Fukui" and attracting more visitors to the city. To that end, we thought about bringing out a new side of dinosaurs, and incorporated Fukui's characteristic love of family into the expression of dinosaurs. We aimed to make the rooftop plaza a fun and friendly place by layering the charm of the local area with a theme that would resonate with many people.
