overview

This facility combines a hotel and a motorsports museum, newly constructed on a site adjacent to Fuji Speedway, Japan's leading motorsports venue. By combining the appeal and value of motorsports with the hospitality offered by the Hyatt brand, it offers a one-of-a-kind experience.

Going beyond the boundaries of "interiors (hotel interior)" and "displays (museum)," concept design work regards everything in the space as a medium to convey "the appeal and value of motorsports." The artwork scattered throughout the facility conveys a message constructed from a vast amount of research and data on motorsports, making it enjoyable for both amateurs and experts.
It is also the world's first museum to "displays and introduce the history of motorsports across the boundaries of manufacturers." Rather than being an explanatory displays centered on text, the aim was for displays to allow visitors to intuitively grasp the value that motorsports culture has brought to society throughout history. displays structure combines vehicles with historical background to allow visitors to wander around and get an overview of the changes that have taken place. The main zone in particular was designed to be particularly impressive, with immersive theater-style displays incorporating audiovisual content.

Issues/requests

Together with our customers, we considered how we could maximize the appeal and value of motorsports through the fusion of a hotel and a museum.

solution

We provided total creative direction for everything from the branding that forms the basis of the facility system, to VI and signage, interiors design and architectural supervision of the hotel entrance, hotel artwork, and the museum displays design and construction. Our goal was to create a one-of-a-kind experience-creating space where people could experience the appeal and value of motorsports throughout the entire facility.
