overview

The Fukushima Reconstruction displays, sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, was held for five days from May 20th to 24th at EXPO Messe "WASSE" within the Osaka-Kansai Expo site. The event showcased the activities of people in the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture and other areas who, despite facing a complex disaster involving earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster, have managed to preserve the region's culture and attractions and pass them on to the future. It also introduced new initiatives by various businesses developing cutting-edge robots, rockets, and other technologies.

Issues/requests

design, layout was to determine what story to tell to displays of the dozens of exhibitors currently active in a variety of genres in the Hamadori region and elsewhere within a venue of approximately 1,000 square meters.

solution

We held repeated discussions about how to reflect the history and aspirations of each exhibitor in displays. By connecting the "HAMADOORI TABLE" in the center of the booth, which represents the Hamadori region, and each exhibitor's booth with a yellow belt via the key icon yellow parasol, we were able to visually express the connection from the table, which has an index function, to each booth. Furthermore, by composing each booth with a wooden unit called "Tsunagi" (*) and graphic banners, we were able to create a soft and warm space.
