overview

This is a renovation project for the Courtyard by Marriott Ginza Tobu Hotel. As a turning point for the times since its opening, this project aims to evolve the hotel into a new one by improving comfort and planning distinctive hotel restaurants.

The plan was to close the entire building for the first time since its opening and carry out a major renovation in order to upgrade both its functionality and concept design while maintaining its appeal as a full-service hotel with accommodation, banquet, and restaurant functions and also to capture inbound demand that will recover after COVID-19. The renovation was based on the concept of "GINZA CONTRAST," and the duality of Ginza's unique charm as "a town with a glamorous and traditional feel for enjoying special occasions such as sightseeing, theater, and shopping," and "a town with the benefits of being used as a matter of course that fit into your daily life and accompany you in your life." While valuing the combination of both, the hotel proposed a new way of enjoying and spending time at a hotel where visitors can come and go freely and easily, without clearly separating "work" and "play," "friends" and "yourself," or "travel" and "life."
Our company was responsible for restaurant development, tenant leasing, interiors design and design supervision for the guest rooms, restaurant and bar, as well as interiors construction.

Issues/requests

・Before the renovation, the first floor restaurant was operated as a restaurant and a cafe, but the new restaurant will have various faces in one space, and will be a place where each guest can spend time freely.
・Expanding the customer experience by establishing new tenant areas and attracting attractive tenants
- To make Ginza a place that visitors to the area will want to use on a daily basis.
・At Bar Korin on the basement floor, we will provide new content based on the brand we have cultivated thus far, which will lead to further value enhancement.
・Guest rooms are limited in size, but can be used for both relaxation and work.
・Renovate some of the bathroom facilities to improve comfort
・Establish a new work area in partnership with Solaie Plus Work to broaden the range of ways the hotel can be used.
There were more requests than this.

solution

・The first floor has been significantly remodeled, and an all-day dining restaurant, "RISTASIX," has been newly established with an open facade that will be the face of the hotel. This restaurant aims to be a place where people can enjoy connecting with others and spend time relaxing, under the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the concept of "TOKYO retreat RESTAURANT." The name "RISTASIX" combines "RISTA," a coined word that means a place where people who gather here can feel "R," such as retreat, relax, refresh, and revive, with "SIX," which means a place where you can spend six different time periods and scenes, such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea time, bar time, and apero, as well as being located in Ginza 6-chome. Through the open feeling of the terrace, the live feeling of the open kitchen, and the exciting dining experience, we have created a restaurant where you can experience the taste and time of an extraordinary travel destination.

・The reception counter is accessed from two entrances, so a large wall was installed to symbolize the dual nature of Ginza, a city whose appearance changes depending on the angle from which it is viewed. Sparkling lighting using ribbed glass adds a touch of glamour, while the same lighting is rhythmically installed in the atrium staircase leading to the basement, creating a sense of unity in the lobby area. The wooden ceiling also creates a natural flow from the counter to the customer elevator, creating a sense of unity in the area.

・The guest rooms express the hotel's overall concept of "GINZA CONTRAST" with the depth created by the materials and shapes, such as the shadows of the three-dimensional panels on the headboard, the sparkle of light from the glass lighting, and the texture of the calm wood grain and glossy fabric. The graphics combine the veins of willow leaves, a traditional symbol of the city, with the streets of Ginza, creating an organic movement in the room and making the guest rooms even more impressive. In terms of functionality, a large table is installed by the window where it is easy to work or eat and drink, accommodating guests with different purposes, whether they are on business or sightseeing. In addition, some of the guest rooms have been renovated from the existing unit bath to an out-basin style with separate toilets and showers, allowing the rooms to be used more spaciously.

・Bar Korin on the first basement floor has retained its classic style since it opened in 1987, and as the main bar of the Courtyard Marriott Ginza Tobu Hotel, concept design has been revised while keeping the authentic setting. It has evolved into a hotel bar for the new era, collecting content filled with the attention to detail of Japanese brewers, mainly domestic Western alcohol, and is a place that can provide new experiential value to domestic and international guests. In addition, it also has a cigar room that embodies the provision of quality time, and has adopted a bottle keeping system to make it "your bar." In addition to alcohol, it also serves high-quality Japanese tea and other drinks, making it a bar that can welcome a wide variety of guests.
