overview

This luxury club is scheduled to open in 2021 and was planned to bring vitality and hope for the future to Ginza, one of Japan's leading entertainment districts, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The name of the store is "Arabesque," which originally means "Arabic decorative pattern." The music of the same name derived from this has a structure in which a regular rhythm is repeated and the intersection of sounds gradually changes. We focused on the meaning of the arabesque decoration and music and wanted to overlay it in the space. First, we incorporated a half-arch, which is a typical motif of Arabic decoration, cut in half. By connecting the half-arches, we were freed from the regular composition and changed the way they were combined. We deployed this half-arch from the entrance door to the reception, bar, and hall, linking them together as if they were creating the rhythm of the music. The half-arch gives a sense of connection to the next, gradually changing into a brighter and more gorgeous form, connecting us to a fun future. We aimed for concept design that gives such an impression, one that breathes hope and fresh air.

Issues/requests

In 2021, the city of Ginza was facing headwinds due to the impact of repeated state of emergency declarations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This project sought to use the power of concept design and art to bring vitality back to the city and lead it to a brighter future.

solution

Taking inspiration from the Arabesque decoration and music that inspired the restaurant's name, the design uses a continuous half-arch concept design that transitions from the entrance to the bar and hall in a gorgeous way, creating concept design that suggests a fun future. The interior lighting uses colored LEDs that change with each event, creating a lively atmosphere. Additionally, the tops of all the tables feature illustrations by artist Hiroshi Tanabe, filling the seating space with a dazzling effect and stimulating the senses of guests.
