"GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE SCIENCE Exhibition - For a prosperous future life -" opens on October 3rd | NOMURA was in charge of planning and production

The "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE SCIENCE Exhibition - For a prosperous future" will be held from Thursday, October 3rd to Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 at the National Museum of Science and Innovation in Kitanomaru Park, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. This special exhibition fuses the spectacular worldview of the TV animation series Mobile Suit Gundam with cutting-edge science and technology, allowing visitors to truly experience the future. This displays, which allows visitors to experience a safe, secure and prosperous lifestyle of the future and the forefront of space development, is sure to inspire not only the children who will lead the next generation, but also adults. NOMURA is in charge of planning and production.
[Highlights of displays]
1. Space Age of Technology
The world of Gundam depicts life in space. The various space development projects currently underway for mankind's expansion into space aim to make the dreams and hopes of the future a reality through science and technology.
Various space technologies, such as space colonies that appear in Gundam, will be displays in a variety of ways from the perspectives of "space," "environment," and "technology."
2. The Possibility of MS (Mobile Suits) - The Potential of General-Purpose Humanoid Robots
Mobile suits are an extension of human physical abilities in space. The technical aspects of these suits will be presented in a variety of experiential displays, including the latest robotics technology. At the venue, visitors will be able to experience a realistic robot operation experience, and come into contact with robots that may be used in future space work or at disaster sites. Visitors will also have the chance to experience the fun of operating a robot themselves, including an experience of operating a robot inspired by the Gundam series.
3. Innovation of Future Lifestyle
Technology for humans to live in space. That means looking back at the Earth's environment from space. Can we test "food" and "living" technologies in space and use the feedback to improve the current Earth's environment? We will consider the possibilities for the future.
[Special experience program]
1. "Gundam Open Innovation Science Seminar"
We will invite lecturers from the Gundam Open Innovation community to hold special lectures connecting "Gundam" with the future of science and technology.
*Gundam Open Innovation is a program that reinterprets the "Universal Century" in the real world, and combines "Gundam" with "future technology" to realize the dreams and hopes of the future in response to "social issues" that the real world faces, just like in the world of Gundam.
2. Gunpla Workshop "Operation Gundam R (Recycle)"
We will be holding a Gunpla workshop that parents and children can enjoy together. Through the experience of assembling Gunpla, we will provide an opportunity to foster the joy of craftsmanship and develop creativity.
* In "Gundam R (Recycle Operation)", we will be distributing free experience kits for "Ecopla", which is made by recycling collected runners. After having fun assembling your Gunpla, you can actually put the runners into a collection box, giving you a first-hand experience of plastic recycling.
Why is the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE SCIENCE Exhibition" attracting so much attention?
1. The cutting edge of space technology: This exhibition connects the worldview of the Gundam animation to real-life space development and technology, showing future possibilities. It will appeal not only to those interested in science and technology, but to anyone interested in how we will live in the future.
2. New discoveries that Gundam fans will not want to miss: Gundam fans will be provided with a new perspective on how the technology and settings of the Gundam world have influenced real-world researchers and become a driving force behind their creation.
[What is Mobile Suit Gundam?]
Mobile Suit Gundam, which began airing in 1979, created a huge boom with its realistic depictions of war in which robots were used as "weapons" known as "mobile suits," meticulous scientific research, and deep, intricately woven human drama. It established the genre of "real robot anime" that went beyond the simple good-versus-evil stories that had been the trend in robot anime up until then.
Since then, the series has spawned 24 animated TV series, 30 theatrical and cinematic releases, 27 original animations, and numerous streaming, event, and TV specials, earning it a long-standing reputation both domestically and internationally.
