"KOCHIKAME Museum" opens on Saturday, March 22nd | NOMURA, Ltd. is in charge of the overall production of the space

NOMURA was in charge of the overall spatial production of the "KOCHIKAME Museum," which opened in Kameari, Katsushika Ward on Saturday, March 22nd. This facility was established by Katsushika Ward to promote the development of the shopping district and revitalization of the Kameari area, where the story is set, and aims to be a "hub for tourism and urban development" based on the manga "Kochikame: This is the Kameari Police Box in Katsushika Ward (hereafter "Kochikame"). The manga, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) for 40 years, features Ryoutsu Kankichi, who works at a police box, as its main character.
Our company was responsible for the entire process, from formulating the facility concept to planning, designing and construction displays and content within the facility, planning, designing and construction new photo spots as a means of circulating around Kameari Station, and planning promotional measures for the facility's opening. We contributed to the realization of this facility by utilizing IP content and our know-how in public facilities and regional revitalization.
The experience of the world of "Kochikame" will motivate people to explore the town. A tourist facility open to the local community that will attract visitors to the Kameari area.
The concept of the facility is that the protagonist builds his own memorial museum on top of the police box where he works and escapes to the town of Kameari.
Visitors can experience the charms of the Kochikame series and the Kameari region through displays within the facility, and then travel around the real Kochikame world in the town of Kameari, following the trail of the fleeing protagonist as they go through a coherent experiential story.
■Facilities | Immersive experience in a 3D manga space
The architecture resembles comic panels stacked on top of each other, interiors is reminiscent of famous scenes, and there are information displays about Kameari, all of which express the world of the work and make you feel as if the main characters are actually present.
■City | Discover the new charms of the Kameari area
New photo spots and signs will be set up around town where visitors can enter the comic frames and take photos with the main characters. These will be linked to existing bronze statues and concept design manholes to promote mobility in the area.
Even after the opening, Katsushika Ward plans to update displays, local information, merchandise, etc. The aim is to create a facility that will be loved not only by locals, but also by tourists, foreign visitors to Japan, and the next generation, and that will grow together with the local community while maintaining ties with the area.

Main Areas

1st floor reception
The entrance is a replica of the police box that is the setting for Kochikame. It welcomes visitors and is dotted with Kochikame-esque elements related to various episodes, building up a sense of anticipation for visitors.


5th floor: Ryotsu Daimyojin Shrine, where Ryo-san was born | The birth place of Ryotsu Kankichi!
The experience starts on the fifth floor. In the four-and-a-half-tatami Japanese-style room where Kochikame was born, a video of the author, Akimoto-sensei, at work is shown. On the walls, valuable items that are the source of ideas for the author and the main character displays. In displays of the "Ryotsu Daimyojin" shrine that appears in the work, you can enjoy fortune-telling with many characters as motifs.


4th floor Original Art Gallery | The World of Kochikame
This floor allows you to feel the world of Kochikame by combining various scenes from the manga, such as manga frames displays on the walls, carefully selected themed reproductions of original drawings, and a large-scale video made up of 201 volumes of the manga. You can also look back on the characters and story of Kochikame.

3rd floor: Experience famous scenes at Kochikame Play Area
A variety of famous scenes from the Kochikame series are recreated using game-like displays and digital content. All of the inventions of the main character were created specifically for this facility, and are experiences that can only be experienced here. You can have fun while experiencing the Kochikame world.

2nd Floor: Hands displays | Floor for me
displays a reproduction of the protagonist's room and the honorary director's room. Various devices allow you to feel the presence of the protagonist while enjoying the experience with all five senses. You can also sit in a chair and take a commemorative photo while immersing yourself in the feeling of being the director.

1st floor exchange space | Welcome to Kameari
Along with the culture and events of Kameari that appear in the Kochikame series, the floor introduces the history of Kameari, famous places, and event information. This floor will promote the charm of Kameari and serve as a starting point for touring the town. We held discussions with local residents and planned the facility to be rooted in the community and foster an attachment to it.
