Tama Rokuto Science Museum, operated by Nomura NOMURA as the designated manager, will hold a special summer exhibition, "Rokuto Insect Encyclopedia," to celebrate its 30th anniversary on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

NOMURA is entrusted with the operation and management of cultural facilities such as museums and science museums, including research and education, with the aim of contributing to the development of local communities.
Tama Rokuto Science Museum (Nishitokyo City, Tokyo; Director: Takayanagi Yuichi), which we have been the designated manager for since 2013, will be holding a special summer exhibition, "Rokuto Insect Encyclopedia," to celebrate the museum's 30th anniversary.
With the theme of "Let's learn more about insects!", the program will introduce the fascinating aspects of insects, including their classification and ecology, by answering 30 mysterious questions about insects that children have.

Collaboration with Jyueki Taro
~Creates the main images for the exhibition, and also teaches insect sketching classes~
Illustrator, painter, and manga artist. Selected for the 19th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art. Made his debut as a picture book author with "Sugoi Mushi Zukan" (KADOKAWA).
His other major works include "Yurufuwa Insect Encyclopedia: We Live Loosely" (KADOKAWA) and "Jueki Taro's Yurufuwa Insect Encyclopedia" (Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha). He has more than 150,000 followers on social media.
In addition to the main visuals, he also worked on the illustrations and concept design of displays panels that explore the secrets of insects, making this a highly interesting exhibition for fans of Jueki Taro.
In addition, a sketching class will be held on Saturday, August 24th, with Jueki Taro himself as the instructor. Participants of the previous class gave positive feedback, saying, "I was very happy to be taught by the author of my favorite book," and "I was able to learn the tricks of observing what I want to draw."

A word from the planning staff
We will displays various insect specimens and live organisms from Japan and abroad. We think it will be an opportunity to discover things you wanted to know about insects, and also things you didn't know about familiar insects. Please come and see the diverse insects.
