Yoichi Ochiai "Nuruan: Noise is Silence ∽ Silence is Noise" Exhibition | NOMURA was in charge of construction displays the organically deformed mirrors

Currently being held at Gallery & Restaurant Backstage (Azabudai Hills), Yoichi Ochiai's solo exhibition ``Nuruan: NoisokureJaku∽Jakusokuresou'' is a collection of works created by media artist Yoichi Ochiai to date. , a space where the physical intermingling of light and sound waves and the cultural intermingling of folk art and tea ceremony take place, providing a rich moment of endless exploration into the depths of objects between the material and the immaterial, the real and the unreal. That's what we aim for.
His new work, the teahouse "Nuruan," is constructed from lenses, deformable mirrors, and speakers. In the midst of computational nature, he considers the role of the teahouse as an opportunity to experience through tools the ethics and norms imprinted in mass (what Ochiai calls "the yearning for mass and folk art").
NOMURA, Ltd. was in charge of construction displays the organically deformed mirrors used in the teahouse "Nuruan." The essence of this exhibition is the tour-style experience of the Ochiai style tea ceremony. Following instructions from the artist, you will move inside and outside the backstage area and experience the various mechanisms scattered throughout the venue. As the experience progresses, the sounds and the mirror membrane inside the teahouse will change, and in the teahouse "Nuruan," you will enjoy thin tea and main sweets in dishes believed to date back to the Kofun or Edo period. Please enjoy the worldview of this new installation, which is expressed in full use of the entire gallery space.
*Some works can be viewed for free, but to view all works and enter the tea room, a tea ceremony experience ticket with a specified date and time is required. (Advance reservation/first come first served)
