Morioka City Library Seismic Retrofitting and Major Renovation Work | NOMURA Co.,Ltd. is in charge of planning, concept design, and construction

We will be holding a "Find and Layer Green: Canopy Fabric Coloring Workshop."

NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director President and CEO Kiyotaka Okumoto; hereinafter referred to as NOMURA Co.,Ltd.) held a workshop for children with the Morioka Municipal Library on Sunday, June 25th, in preparation for the Morioka Municipal Library's renewal* (scheduled to open in April 2024), which was commissioned to Nomura Co., Ltd. in September of last year.
In this workshop, we collaborated with local children and their parents to concept design a canopy fabric, a decorative element symbolizing the transformation of the "children's room" into the "Children's Library."
This project was conceived with the hope of making the library feel more accessible to people by creating it as a "citizen workshop" in cooperation with Morioka City Library.

The Morioka Municipal Library, which will reopen in April 2024, aims to be a library loved by the community and used by many people, by incorporating seating and interaction spaces that take advantage of the view of Takamatsu Pond, and by creating displays that reflect the unique character of Morioka and the changing seasons."

We planned workshops to foster a sense of attachment among local residents even before the library opened. Furthermore, as these workshops are offered by the library, we focused on making them not only fun but also educational experiences for both parents and children. We hope that these workshops will inspire people to find richness in the everyday scenery and daily life they often take for granted. And with that in mind, our entire team is currently working diligently towards the opening, aiming to create a library that can provide such opportunities.
