"Find and Layer Green: Canopy Fabric Painting Workshop" held

NOMURA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director President and CEO: Kiyotaka Okumoto; hereinafter referred to as NOMURA) held a children's workshop at Morioka City Library on Sunday, June 25th, in preparation for the renovation of Morioka City Library* (scheduled to open in April 2024), which it was commissioned to do in September last year.
In this workshop, together with local children and their parents, we concept design a "fabric canopy" to symbolize the "children's room," which was renamed the "Children's Library" and given a major makeover.
This project was produced as a "citizens' workshop" with the cooperation of Morioka City Library, with the hope of making people feel closer to the library.

"We received very positive feedback from everyone who participated in the workshop, with many saying they were looking forward to the new library. Morioka City Library, which will reopen in April 2024, aims to be a library that is loved by the local community and used by many people, by installing seating and social spaces that take advantage of the view of Takamatsu Pond, and by creating displays that evoke the essence of Morioka and the seasons."

"As a public library, we want it to be a library that continues to be loved by the community.
Even before the opening, we planned workshops to foster an attachment among local residents. Also, because the workshops are offered by the library, we were conscious of making them experiences that are not only fun but also educational for both parents and children. We hope that this workshop will encourage people to find richness in the scenery and daily life that they usually take for granted. Our entire team is currently working hard to prepare for the opening, aiming to become a library that can provide such opportunities.
