[KAMEOKA VIRTUAL HISTORIA Overview]

■Overview
"KAMEOKA VIRTUAL HISTORIA" is a Metaverse space that reproduces historical and cultural resources such as traditional performing arts, festivals, customs, nature, etc. of various parts of the city, including cultural properties owned by the Kameoka City Cultural Museum. Set in the townscape of Kameoka in the Edo period, such as the Kameyama castle tower and palaces, which cannot be seen today, users can get in touch with the history of the area by collecting historical materials scattered throughout. It does not require installation of applications, etc., and can be easily accessed by anyone from your device.
Unlike metaverse spaces that aim to foster interaction between users, this content is designed to be an experience that visitors can enjoy for long periods of time by adding a story similar to a quest-type game. In addition to digitally archiving cultural assets, we are committed to creating a realistic, high-quality world view, creating a high level of immersion and satisfaction through activities that transcend time and space, and providing an experiential value that is unique to Kameoka.
■ NOMURA Creative Headquarters Creative Production Center no.10 Designer Yosuke Ando
A world created by a high-quality, realistic spatial design that pays attention to detail. By constructing displays experience story of completing a historia (history book) there, it has an entertainment value that anyone can enjoy. The designers and planners used their respective expertise to challenge the new possibilities of the metaverse, aiming to create a "space" and "experience" that would allow people to learn about the rich local resources, history, and culture by touring the metaverse while having fun, and to let many people know about the charms of Kameoka.
■ "KAMEOKA VIRTUAL HISTORIA" Development Manager, stu Inc. Lead Engineer Yuto Aoki
When we thought about "how can we get people who don't know Kameoka interested," we felt that there would be great benefits to utilizing the metaverse, especially since it is now considered a "new thing" around the world. History and the metaverse are contents that are not normally very closely related, but by boldly linking the two in this project, we were reminded that they are actually very compatible. We would be happy if "KAMEOKA VIRTUAL HISTORIA" reaches the younger generation and not only helps them learn about the charms of Kameoka, but also makes them realize that learning about history is fun.
■ Mayor of Kameoka City, Takahiro Katsuragawa
Kameoka City is blessed with abundant nature, which has led to the construction of many temples and shrines, and its history is older than that of the ancient capital of Kyoto. It is also a city that moved during a period of historical change. Through this project, we hope to convey the wonderful charms of Kameoka to people both in Japan and overseas, and to nurture the talent to create and pass on these charms. Proposing new cultural experiences from Kameoka is a big challenge for the city, so we hope that many people will experience it.
Kameoka City will continue to enhance the content of the Digital Cultural Museum in order to appropriately protect and preserve the city's charm and cultural heritage, allowing everyone to access it across geographies, and creating an environment that will lead to the development of the next generation of talent.
