Mitsubishi Estate and NOMURA, Ltd. started demonstration experiment on "Relaxation effect of interiors space using solid wood"

This time, Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and NOMURA Co., Ltd. are jointly participating in the "FY2022 Demonstration Project for Interior and Exterior Timber Effects" (a project subsidized by the Forestry Agency, Wood Structure Progress Co., Ltd., and the Japan Housing and Wood Technology Center, a public interest incorporated association). Recruitment), the theme “Relaxing effect of interiors space using solid wood” was adopted, and the demonstration experiment was started.

In recent years, with the spread of telework and hybrid work, there is a growing need for a well-being office space that is not just a place to work, but also a place for communication. In this demonstration experiment, using an office interiors space as a model, we will scientifically demonstrate the effects of solid wood on people. is intended to increase This time, we focused on the effect on sound, first measuring sound absorption and reverberation due to differences in materials (solid wood / non-wood) and thickness, and then measuring two units using materials with large differences. At the experiment booth, we will discover new value by measuring the user's physiological response. Academic guidance is provided by Professor Yuko Tsuneji of the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo; audible and non-audible sound surveys are conducted by Associate Professor Mari Ueda of the Faculty of Informatics, Kanagawa Institute of Technology; And we plan to continue the demonstration after February 2023.

 

■ Wood Co_Lab (wood collaboration)

Led by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and NOMURA Co., Ltd., we will scientifically verify "what is good about wood?" in order to improve the attractiveness and value of wood. Through various experiments with the keyword "human five senses", we will work with the aim of corroborating with numbers and data. The forestry agency subsidy project adoption project will also be implemented as one of the research themes of wood collaboration.
