Ryo Onishi and Chikako Hatanaka, designers NOMURA Co.,Ltd., will be speaking at a symposium at BAMBOO EXPO 16 [organized by BAMBOO MEDIA], a trade show showcasing elements of spatial concept design. Onishi will speak on the theme of "Commercial Spaces and Domestic Timber," while Hatanaka will speak on "The Future as Shown by Female Designers."
The event will be held in person at the venue, and admission to the special stage and each session is free. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to register and attend as soon as possible. BAMBOO EXPO started in 2011 as a unique displays that brings together a wide variety of "materials" used in commercial space concept design, including interiors materials, building materials, furniture, art, greenery, technology, and services. It is now held twice a year, in spring and autumn, and this will be its 16th edition.

Due to the influence of the corona pandemic, we have been forced to postpone and scale down for the past year or two, but with the help, wisdom and support of many people, we have been able to change the venue from the previous time to "Tokyo Metropolitan Industry and Trade Center Hamamatsu." We have stepped up to the next stage, such as moving to Machikan.

This time as well, in order to explode the energy that has been accumulated so far, we will make this “real” meeting place liven up with various projects.

Starting with museum concept design, I have experience in a wide range of projects, from corporate showroom and store concept design to hotels and workplaces. My focus is on creating spaces and experiential value by integrating the fields of information concept design and interior concept design, and I develop creations that comprehensively consider concept design process. Recent achievements include Bridge for Innovation, PARAHEROes Exhibition, Brillia Shinagawa Minami-Ooi Communication Salon, Kanda Myojin Cultural Exchange Center EDOCCO, NSK MUSEUM, NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Workplace RE/SP_2, and others.

Born and raised in Tokyo. After graduating from the Department of Architecture, College of Science and Technology, Nihon University, she joined NOMURA Co.,Ltd., Ltd., where she was mainly involved in concept design of commercial specialty stores. In 2019, she joined FOO as a founding member. In recent years, she has been involved in many projects requiring high-end spaces, such as hotels and residences both domestically and internationally. Her work-life balance is evolving due to childbirth and teleworking. She is constantly exploring and working on concept design projects. Her main achievements include HENRI LE ROUX Tokyo Midtown, BEAUTY LIBRARY Aoyama, and the Midtown Hibiya Restroom Lounge, among others.
