Powerlifter Tetsuo Nishizaki (NOMURA Ltd.) wins the 11th Fazza Dubai 2021 Para Powerlifting World Cup

Tetsuo Nishizaki (men's 49kg class, competed in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Paralympic Games), a powerlifter affiliated with NOMURA Co., Ltd., competed in the 49kg class at the 11th Fazza Dubai 2021 Para Powerlifting World Cup held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 local time.
This tournament is positioned on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Pathway as stipulated by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), so it is an important tournament that will be reflected in the rankings for Tokyo 2020 participation. I ended up in 8th place with a record of 137 kg. My latest ranking for Tokyo 2020 is now 10th.

Thank you for your support.
This was the last World Cup to be reflected in the rankings, so my goal was to defend the top Japanese and succeed in lifting 140kg or more to improve my ranking. Thanks to the people inside and outside the company who always support me in any situation, and the environment in which I can train, I was able to face the match in the best possible condition.

The result was 137kg.
In the match, I was able to succeed in the first attempt, which was a problem, but it was a close match and I couldn't believe what I had done in practice, which I think led to the low accuracy of the third attempt.
I'm very frustrated that I can't respond to the support of those who have supported me until now.

We will be self-isolating until the end of July to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Until the official Japanese team is announced by the Japanese Paralympic Committee, I would like to calmly analyze the cause of this situation and work hard at training every day so that I can face the competition in the best condition at all times.
