NOMURA Co.,Ltd. plans and displays interactive digital art using SoftBank's 5G for real-time computing power at 5G X LAB OSAKA (starting April 1st)

We planned and proposed the spatial design for the digital art piece "Immersive Motion," which is currently on displays at "5G X LAB OSAKA" in Osaka City Software Industry Plaza TEQS, which opened on April 1, 2021, and provided the content production services.

The entire digital production process was handled by NOMLAB, the open innovation laboratory of NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Group. This displays, President and CEO by SoftBank Corp. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Junichi Miyakawa), utilizes the fifth-generation mobile communications system (5G) to test and provide technical experiences for MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing). In recent years, live events, tourist and commercial facilities, and art museums have increasingly used digital technology to create interactive spaces that adapt to the movements of participants. While these have proven popular for their high experiential value, the need to build large-scale servers equipped with GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) at displays venue posed a challenge for the organizers.

Therefore, NOMLAB planned and developed digital art that allows visitors to experience an interactive spatial displays) without sending all data to the cloud.The exhibit allows visitors to experience the four major characteristics of this technology: 1) simplified displays, 2) simplified operation and management, 3) low latency communication, and 4) mobility and flexibility of installation location.
