Miraikan, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan, Director: Mamoru Mohri), the International Research Center for Neurointelligence (IRCN, Director: Takao Hensch), and NOMURA Co., Ltd. (Representative Director President and CEO: Shuji Enomoto) will unveil a new displays for the second phase of their Visionary Lab*, "Making the Brain Whole: Researchers Looking at and Creating the Brain," on Thursday, March 25, 2021. This exhibit explores the great potential of the brain by gaining a new perspective on "intelligence" from cutting-edge research and exploring what visions (ideal images of the future) can be displays up by the fusion of brain research and artificial intelligence (AI) research.

"Chi-no" is a coined word that represents a new research field called "neurointelligence" that has two aspects: understanding our brains and artificial intelligence that is born from understanding the brain, and also represents the results that will be brought about by this field. This displays allows visitors to experience a variety of things related to "chi-no" while experiencing the cutting edge of collaboration between researchers with different perspectives in brain research and AI research.

Under the themes of "Experiencing the Intelligent Brain," "Understanding the Intelligent Brain," "Exploring the Intelligent Brain," and "Creating the Intelligent Brain," visitors can see, hear, and touch actual devices and AI to understand the similarities, differences, and characteristics of the human brain and AI that can be seen from cutting-edge research on the brain and AI. Visitors can also participate in creating visions through displays by imagining the future based on the researchers' visions and expressing their own opinions, such as what kind of AI can be created from brain research and what kind of AI can help create a future in which each and every one of us is respected.

This displays was planned and produced collaboratively by IRCN, Miraikan, and NOMURA, Ltd., who held workshops to present the research results born from the fusion of brain research and AI research in an optimal displays format, providing visitors with a new experience.
