NOMURA, Ltd. participates in space decoration by upcycling Tokaido Shinkansen 700 series car body aluminum

NOMURA Co., Ltd. (JR Tokai Group) has made aluminum from the Tokaido Shinkansen 700 series cars (hereinafter referred to as the 700 series Shinkansen) into building materials for the Tokyo Station Yaesu North Exit concourse and the specialty store "Tokyo Gift Palette" interiors We participated in a project to upcycle*1 as a material. This is the first effort to use recycled aluminum in commercial spaces as recycled aluminum that does not contain mixtures while maintaining the high quality of the Series 700 Shinkansen since the start of operation of the Shinkansen in 1964, and it received the Development Award of the Japan Aluminum Association. NOMURA has been involved from the development stage of building materials, and has been involved in production and construction in environmental area interiors construction. I was responsible for production and project management.

 

NOMURA will continue to work on improving technology and quality to solve social issues, and take on the challenge of creating spaces that can contribute to improving the corporate value of our customers and contributing to a sustainable society.

 

*1: What is Upcycle?

Unlike recycling and reuse, a new methodology of sustainable manufacturing that reborns into something else by adding new ideas while making use of the original shape and characteristics.
