WEAZER Nishiizu

WEAZER, developed by ARTH Co., Ltd., is an off-grid residential module that can be installed in places without electricity, gas, or water infrastructure, as it generates electricity through solar power generation and produces water by filtering and sterilizing rainwater. Another feature is that it can be installed in a short construction period of just a few days, as it is manufactured in a factory and then transported to the facility.
By incorporating this cutting-edge technology, we have made it possible to realize a world where you can stay anywhere in the world without damaging nature by simply placing it there, and the first model has now opened in Nishiizu as a rental accommodation facility.
We were responsible design supervision of this facility and for the FF&E design and production work.

The construction of unitized container modules reduces the burden of on-site construction work, and has the advantage of being able to be installed in a short period of time on slopes facing the sea, such as the site in question. On the other hand, it was necessary to combine the simplicity with the high-quality space creation that ARTH aims to provide guests with high-value-added services.

A key concept design element is the incorporation of diagonal lines that guide guests towards the sea as they enter the rectangular container space; this mechanism is used not only in the exterior walls, eaves, and deck, but also in the interior layout.
This gave a sense of concept design to the rectangular space characteristic of containers, leading to the proposal of a new form of container architecture.
