Tobu Railway SL Revival Operation Project

[Outline of the project]
A grand project called "SL revival operation" has started, and SL will run on the Kinugawa Line for the first time in about half a century for Tobu Railway.
As part of the project, we were involved in the basic planning, concept design and supervision of the station building, platform, and head mark, production of the bustle of Kinugawa Onsen Station, and planning, design, and construction of the SL displays hall at Shimoimaichi Station.

[Customer issues]
In order to realize the project's three major themes of "preservation and utilization of cultural heritage of the railway industry" and "revitalization of the Nikko/Kinugawa area" and eventually "assistance of Tohoku reconstruction support", we will enhance the branding of the region. , We aimed to create an displays that would increase the number of railway fans by creating a bustle to raise awareness, conveying the appeal of the railway industrial cultural heritage.

【solution】
Based on the Showa retro concept design that evokes the days when steam locomotives were running, we created liveliness in the station building and created displays that touch on the appeal of steam locomotives so that not only core railway fans but also a wide range of generations can enjoy them.
At both stations where the SL stops, we created an environment with concept design inspired by the station buildings of the time and eye-catching large lanterns. In addition, in the SL displays hall, we introduce life-size photos of steam locomotives that are overwhelmed by their size, flipping displays that children can enjoy, and the history of steam locomotives of Tobu Railway that appeals to local residents and steam locomotive fans.
