[Outline of the project]

The layout of the venue for the solo exhibition "HANA SO" by Akane Teshigahara, the 4th head of the Ikebana Sogetsu school, held to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the school.
Usually, the displays works are decided in advance, and it is common to think about the space that makes use of them.
For this displays, the Iemoto proposed a reverse process of arranging flowers inspired by the space.

In addition, since the platform-shaped rock garden "Heaven" designed by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi will serve as the displays venue, it was an essential project to take advantage of its spatial characteristics.
Therefore, we cut out a 0.5mm-thick mirror-finished stainless steel plate into a series of rhombuses, and created creases one by one to cover the stone garden, creating an expression like "mirror ivy".
The ivy reflects the surrounding scenery while hiding the texture and expression of the rock garden below.
The colors and outlines of the flowers arranged in the gaps are diffusely reflected, creating a kaleidoscope-like visual effect.
In this way, by inserting a new layer between the two "works" of the flower and the rock garden, I thought of bringing about a new fusion and harmony, as if the flowers were gently enveloping the rock garden.

Our concept design team “onndo (*)” was in charge of this property.
