This project involves expanding the ladies' floor of one of Tokyo's largest health check-up facilities from one to two floors and renovating it with a new concept design.
Based on the concept of "offering a comfortable and smart medical checkup experience to women working in the city," we aimed to create a space that took into consideration the movement, line of sight, and comfort of both patients and staff.
Through repeated discussions with many stakeholders, we carefully designed every detail of function and design, which led to the creation of a medical checkup service with a high level of hospitality.
[Social issues/customer issues/requests]
The client's number one request was to significantly increase the capacity for female patients and operational efficiency.
The challenge to achieve this was to ensure that the facility was easy to use and comfortable, while maximizing the number of examination rooms and seating in the waiting area.
At the same time, in order to further strengthen Shinjuku Health Check Plaza's position in the market for health checkup facilities, we aimed to increase the sense of exclusivity and added value.
[Solution]
concept design was created around the new concept of "SMART HEALTH RESORT" for the entire facility, with the existing 7th floor ladies' floor as the "COMFORT RESORT" and the new 8th floor, which will offer an even more exclusive feeling than the 7th floor, as the "PRIME RESORT."
With the aim of providing women working in urban areas with a comfortable and smart medical checkup experience, the spatial expression is based on a hotel-like sense of luxury, and the color scheme is based on beige and light-colored wood grain.
The metal fittings are not of common colors such as gold or silver, but rather a pink bronze color to create a special feel.
In addition, while most medical facilities generally have plain, subdued wallpaper in their examination room interiors, our facility differentiates itself by using patterned wallpaper in each room to help patients feel as relaxed as possible during their examination.
It was an extremely difficult issue to secure the required number of examination rooms and waiting seating within the limited floor space, but after repeated discussions with the medical technicians and medical equipment manufacturers, we were able to determine the minimum size of each examination room that would allow for both "smooth testing" and "patients not feeling cramped." By determining this and making a plan, we were able to achieve the required number.
