Kaiyukan Special Exhibition “Inochi Guruguru Coral Exhibition”
The world's largest aquarium, Kaiyukan, is located in Osaka. The "Coral Circling Life" exhibition is a special exhibition that puts coral, which tends to be a background in the aquarium, in the center of attention. The theme of displays is the "vitality" of robust coral, and the aim is to learn about the charm of coral, discover new ways of looking at aquariums, and even become fans of coral. The aim is also to synergize with the renovation of the "Great Barrier Reef" tank, the largest tank in the aquarium, to create a synergistic effect.
- We want to invigorate visitors by conveying the vitality of coral reefs.
- We would like to create a special exhibition that can be enjoyed together with the Great Barrier Reef aquarium, which will be reopened after renovation.
-displays must be easy to understand so that anyone can intuitively understand it.
・You can feel the unique atmosphere of Kaiyukan.
There were more requests than this.
Coral tends to be in the background of other living creatures, but in making it the main focus, we first wanted to spread awareness of the charm of coral and increase the number of fans, so we sprinkled in mechanisms that would allow people to experience the charm of coral.
The main focus of the video was an animated video on the vitality of coral, with graphics that expressed the characteristics of each coral species using onomatopoeia and catchphrases that encapsulated the appeal of coral. We devised ways to provide an intuitive explanation that is easy to understand for people of all ages and nationalities.
The installation, which is reminiscent of coral spawning, and the light and shadow effects in the final area, Coral Looking Back Street, allow visitors to enjoy a space where their appearance changes depending on the time of day and the movements of visitors.
In addition, we have created displays story that will invigorate visitors by letting them experience the ecology of robust coral, from birth, growth, bleaching, and the emergence of new life.
The following comments have been received from visitors:
