overview

This tourist facility is themed around drift ice and the creatures of the Sea of Okhotsk. The concept of this facility is "Discovery Dive," an immersive experience of stepping into the world beneath the drift ice. You can experience the extraordinary world of drift ice and the unknown world beneath it.

"Drift Ice Underwater Live" offers a live, immersive experience as if you were diving beneath the drift ice, guided by divers and marine life, through 360-degree footage from a diver's perspective. "A world of life and beauty woven by the miracles of nature" unfolds in the space, captivating visitors.
Furthermore, by showcasing the natural beauty of drift ice and the creatures that inhabit it through dynamic images and graphics of drift ice, we aimed to stimulate intellectual curiosity and, through the impressive experiences provided by the carefully designed displays, raise each visitor's awareness of global environmental issues.

Issues/requests

There was a request to make it a facility that can continue to attract customers and feel close to environmental issues.

solution

To ensure continued visitor numbers, the facility offers the chance to enjoy drift ice even in the summer. By realistically conveying the fantastical world beneath the drift ice through 360-degree video from a diver's perspective, it provides an immersive experience that can only be found here.
In addition, to raise awareness of environmental issues, we produced videos from the perspective of divers themselves and narrated explanations of the marine life of the Sea of Okhotsk. displays was designed to deepen visitors' interest in a more realistic and personal way. For more detailed issues and information, we have included in-depth displays to further enhance understanding.

Customer's voice

The renovation has made displays more accessible to visitors, allowing them to experience firsthand the fantastical sight of drift ice floating in the Sea of Okhotsk in Abashiri City, Hokkaido, and the current situation of its decreasing area. This has contributed to enhancing the appeal of the city's major tourist facilities.
