MIDNIGHT PIZZA CLUB Special Exhibition -Installation of the sound device "noon by material record"-

As part of an R&D project that we have been working on since 2022, we launched "material record," which is themed around "materials = Earth's resources," and have announced the first product of this project, the sound device "noon by material record" (hereinafter referred to as "noon").
This product is an experiential art piece that focuses on various sustainable materials that make up the Earth, connecting "sound" and "materials," and is filled with the creativity of NOMURA Co.,Ltd. Group, which excels at spatial design. For the release of "noon," a collaboration was carried out with the travel circle "MIDNIGHT PIZZA CLUB," consisting of actor Taiga Nakano, video director Ryohei Kamide, and photographer Yusuke Abe. They also handled the spatial concept design for the book launch event (held from December 13th to 15th) for "MIDNIGHT PIZZA CLUB 1st BLAZE LANGTANG VALLEY," a book compiling their travel records that was released on December 12th, 2024. In addition, "noon" was installed, and ambient sounds created by Ryohei Kamide from sound sources collected during his travels were played on "noon" along with displays of photographs taken in Nepal during the trip.

We wanted to create a space where people could experience a mountain hut in Langtang Valley, Nepal, the "world's most beautiful valley," which was the destination of the "MIDNIGHT PIZZA CLUB" trip. We wanted to eliminate explanatory text as much as possible and allow people to relive the trip through photos, sounds, and space. These were the requests we received.

We extracted key elements (such as the lauan wood walls, picture frames, and benches) from thousands of photographs taken and sounds recorded during the journey, creating a spatial concept design that recreates a part of the landscape. We also installed "noon" speakers, which utilize sustainable materials made from Earth's resources, and played the sounds of breathing and conversations during the climb up Langtang Valley to further enhance the sense of immersion in the world of the journey.
