■ Project description
Narafamily, a large shopping center that has been loved for many years in Yamato-Saidaiji, Nara Prefecture, is attempting to transform itself into a high-quality urban shopping center. In the spring of 2016, a complete renovation of the building began with an investment of approximately 5 billion yen, and it successfully reopened in the fall of the same year.
Through a collaboration between general producer Junji Tanikawa of JTQ Inc. and chief creative director Ryu Kosaka of AND, environmental design concept is "Yamato Modern," exploring the essence of Nara. concept design expresses the powerful spirit of Nara, reminiscent of ancient temples and Buddhist statues, with a sense of volume, and the dazzling arrangements that offer a modern interpretation of the beauty of "Tenpyo culture" further enhance the facility.
The logo and facility signage have been completely revamped with a "Yamato Modern" concept design scheme, and the long-loved camel statue of "Pokora," the facility's mascot, has been replaced with a second-generation "Pokora" created by sculptor Ryuichi Ohira and installed in Camel Square.
With this renovation, the specialty store zone has been greatly expanded, and the facility, which has been refurbished with a flow line that makes it easy to shop around, has 55 new stores, including fashion tenants and large-scale household goods tenants, in addition to brands that are the first to open in Nara Prefecture.
