overview

The main building is a historical entertainment facility with the theme of Maebashi's "crisis and people's power." Maebashi was called the "flower of Kanto" during the Edo period and flourished as a castle town, and continued to develop as the prefectural capital of Gunma Prefecture after the Meiji period. During that time, however, our ancestors overcame four crises with the "people's power" and achieved reconstruction: the collapse of Maebashi Castle due to erosion of the Tone River, the abolition of feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures due to the Meiji Restoration, the suspension of operations in the silk industry, which was the city's main industry, due to the Great Depression, and the burning of 80% of the city area in air raids during World War II. The main building calls Maebashi, which developed as the "flower of Kanto" and the "prefectural capital," "the Flower Capital," and was opened with the hope that it would be an opportunity for citizens to trace the history of their hometown and think about Maebashi's future.

Issues/requests

Maebashi City is the prefectural capital but does not have a local museum. In 2022, the "Historical Landscape Preservation and Improvement Plan" based on the Historic Town Development Act was certified by the national government. Koshidaka Holdings, whose representative is a native of Maebashi City, has established a "historical entertainment facility" with the theme of "people's power," aiming to unearth the history of Maebashi from a local perspective and pass it on to future generations, while also generating new value and nurturing the next generation of talent and creating new attractions for the city.

solution

The museum's main exhibits consist of three parts: a "Guidance" section that provides a spatial understanding of Maebashi City's history; an "Introduction" section that uses interactive video to intuitively grasp the history of "four crises and the power of the people" chronologically; and displays immersive "Theme Theater" with three wall-mounted and floor-mounted screens that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a historical drama. The aim is to make everyone realize that they are a part of history and to inspire them to create their own future. displays space that follows the main displays is equipped with "themed displays," a "library," and a gallery environment that allows visitors to explore the allure of history according to their interests, creating a place that will grow together with visitors and contribute to the creation of history even after opening.

Customer's voice

We are very satisfied with the quality and completeness of the theater images. For example, we received a request from a resident of Takasaki City saying, "We would love to have a similar facility in Takasaki City."
