overview

Hiroshima Gate Park is a new public park that will become the face of Hiroshima, redeveloped through a park PFI (Private Finance Initiative) on the former site of the Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium located in the heart of Hiroshima. Eight commercial facilities are scattered around a plaza of approximately 6,500 square meters, capable of hosting large-scale events, encouraging visitors to move around the park and creating a sense of unity among events and shops. In addition, the aim was to create a hub that fosters a new lifestyle of spending time outdoors, where various activities and interactions will be generated, centered around events. Our company participated from the stage of preparing the public tender proposal and was in charge of the overall concept, site use plan, building layout plan, merchandising plan, leasing, interior concept design, signage graphics, tenant design and construction, furniture and fixture manufacturing, branding, naming, logo creation, and communication strategy.

Issues/requests

・Working with many project stakeholders to materialize appropriate facility branding for the redevelopment plan for the former Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium, a symbol of Hiroshima's reconstruction and beloved by the city's residents
・Create a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for activities and interactions suited to the new normal era.
・Although there are many commercial facilities in the center of Hiroshima, there is a lack of comfortable spaces to stay.
There were more requests than this.

solution

Through surveys and workshops with project stakeholders, we articulated the brand value that the municipal baseball stadium originally possessed, and set a vision and brand story for the new municipal park, creating a name, logo concept design, and key visuals.
To unify the brand's worldview, we also undertook a comprehensive communication strategy that included signage graphics, websites, posters, and brochures.
By creating an environment in the park that serves as a gathering place for citizens and attracting highly compatible shops, we created an "outdoor environment x stay-type" facility that leverages the appeal of the outdoors, complementing elements lacking in the city center and contributing to enhancing its attractiveness.
