GRAND GREEN OSAKA South Building is a complex with a variety of functions, including 55 shops and restaurants, two hotels and offices, wellness facilities, and MICE facilities. As a pioneer of cutting-edge urban lifestyles, it is home to a wide variety of international restaurants and shops. The largest urban spa in the Kansai region features natural hot springs and an infinity pool overlooking Umekita Park, and as a wellness hub, it offers high-value experiences such as health, beauty, exercise, and relaxation. In addition, a large-scale food market called "Time Out Market Osaka" overseen by the global media "Time Out" has opened on the first basement floor.
The challenge was to create a facility that would increase the convenience (visibility of stores and ease of movement within the facility) and profitability of a commercial facility amid a mixture of facilities for various purposes and buildings with complex architectural volumes. In addition, in the urban location of Umeda, as a fusion hub of the newly born "greenery" and "innovation," it was desired to express the value of Umekita Park within the facility and create a highly unique environmental plan.
To express the value of the park, which is the facility's greatest feature, we adopted the concept of "Sense of Park," and created a spatial concept design that combines art and concept design to express a response to the urban development themes of "greenery" and "innovation." The floor themes of the basement are "ore," the first floor is "greenery," and the second floor is "wind," expressing harmony with the park, enhancing the facility's uniqueness and fostering a comfortable environment.
