This is a senior residence project primarily targeting active seniors within the HARUMI FLAG area, a new town that was born as a result of large-scale urban development. Our company helped from the basic concept stage and was in charge of planning the common areas.
The nearby Harumi Pier is a special place where ships from all over the world visit, and serves as Tokyo's sea gateway, where luxury cruise ships from Japan and abroad dock. Taking inspiration from the characteristics of this area, we concept design the space of "Home Clair", a cultural school located within the property, with a cruise ship image.
The space to be used for the cultural school, called "Clair Hall," was inspired by the diverse cultures brought by ships from all over the world. It features a culture wall hung with records from multiple generations and cultures, and a movable stage that can be used for a variety of activities, creating mechanisms to serve as a starting point for activities through "culture."
The lounge exclusively for residents, called "Clair Lounge," is conceptualized as an Art Deco concept design that was used in the 1920s, when cruise liner voyages were popular, creating a special space where residents can relax while enjoying board games and light snacks and drinks.
・How common areas should be in urban senior residences
・A mechanism to expand the range of activities of active seniors
We have received a request for proposals for the above issues.
To enable residents to lead active lives, the spatial concept design concept of a "cruise ship" was linked with outward-looking keywords such as "world" and "culture," creating concept design that would encourage activities that go beyond being indoors.
