overview
This facility was added to be operated as an integrated part of the existing EXPO '70 Pavilion. Its purpose is to permanently displays the original "Golden Face," which was installed on top of the "Tower of the Sun," the symbol of the 1970 Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo), until 1992, and to displays materials related to the 1970 Osaka Expo.
Issues/requests
- Re-examining displays spaces appropriate for the museum, based on schematic design, and completing working drawings
- Planning and considering a new section that will allow generations unfamiliar with the 1970 Osaka World Expo to experience a sense of immersion in that era.
- Verification of schematic design of the museum's main displays, displays "Golden Face" with a diameter of 10.6m.
The above were the challenges.
solution
We reviewed numerous documents, reconsidered displays narrative, and completed working drawings.
As a new feature, we proposed and created the "EXPO '70 Experience Gallery" using interactive video, which was completed as one of the main displays where visitors can experience the excitement and energy of that time.
In the "Golden Face" displays, based on design verification (structural calculations), we incorporated measures such as using FRP and polystyrene to reduce weight in the base section, thereby resolving structural issues.
